My name is Daniel Strasberger. My two passions in life are education and writing. In the classroom, my goal is to encourage students to practice craft of writing and create their own voices on the page. In life, I hope to continue to learn and write alongside my students.
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. After graduating from Kalani High School in 2007, I moved to Redlands, California to attend the University of Redlands. There, I graduated in 2011 with a BA in Creative Writing. For a few years I bounced around California and tried a variety of jobs, including substitute teaching and writing for a small town newspaper. Being in the classroom sparked my love of being in front of a classroom.
Reigniting my passion for education, I attended Chapman University's Masters program. Initially, my goal was to earn my MFA in Creative writing, but after being introduced to rhetoric and composition, I quickly applied for my MA in English.
I earned my MA in English in Spring 2019, writing my thesis on "The Efficacy of Varying Small Group Workshops in the Composition Classroom;" I then earned my MFA in Creative Writing, writing a fictional book of short stories named "Wrestletopia: A Collection of Shorts."
Currently, I teach at three different schools: Chapman University at the collegiate level, and California School of the Arts and Orange County School of the Arts at the high school level. At Chapman University I teach a first-year composition course "Rhetoric of Sports" and an English 206 course Critical Literacy and Community Writing. For CSArts and OCSA, I teach a variety of creative writing courses to students ranging from 8th grade to 12th grade.
