Grading Categories & Percentages:
Writing Activities/Participation: 30% of the grade
During class periods, participation will be measured by a combination of in-class activities, full-class and small group discussions, and engagement with the material. They should be submitted through Schoology, either in PDF of Word.
Play Writing Draft: 40% of the grade
Throughout the semester, students will be submitting partial drafts of you a play throughout the semester. The structure will be broken down into small chunks. Each submission will be graded on promptness of submission and meeting the draft guidelines It should be submitted through Schoology, either in PDF of Word.
Major Writing Assignment 10-page Play: 30% of the grade
The goal of this semester is to create a 10-page, single act play. This assignment will be graded on completion of the play, whether it follows play writing guidelines, and craft. It should be submitted through Schoology, either in PDF of Word.
Conservatory Retake Policy: When necessary, a student will have two weeks to retake or redo an assignment. After that, the initial grade will stand.
School Extra Credit Policy: The concept of extra credit work goes against our beliefs about learning and assessment. The remedy for improving grades is to complete the work already assigned and then focus on reassessment opportunities.
Late/Missing Work: Late/Missing work will be accepted throughout the semester. For activities and assignments, any late work will be given half credit after the initial due date. For the Play Draft submissions, students will lose one point off the grading scale for each unit it is late (example: If you turn in Part 1’s writing assignment during Part 2, the max score you can receive is 4 points).
