Course Description:
At the heart of a good tabletop game, there is a story. Do you have what it takes to be a good Dungeon Master? Over the course of the semester, we will explore the storytelling aspect of tabletop games such as Dungeons and Dragons, trying our hand at character building, storytelling, and world building associated with this genre of gaming.

Grading Categories & Percentages:
Character Play: 40% of the grade
Players are a vital aspect in tabletop games. Over the course of this semester, we will be engaging in character work, whether it is creating a character chart for a play-through, or living through our characters during a tabletop session. This grade section will depend on participation, engagement, and reflection. Assignments should be submitted through Google Classroom, and if it is submitted as a document, either through google docs or in PDF form.
Dungeon Mastering: 30% of the grade
A Dungeon Master is the narrator to the tabletop story. Every student will get a chance to become a Dungeon Master for a campaign session this semester. This grade section will be dependent on coming prepared to run your campaign session, as well as reflections on the process of being a Dungeon Master. Assignments should be submitted through Google Classroom, and if it is submitted as a document, either through google docs or in PDF form.
Campaign Design: 30% of the grade
The goal of this semester is to create a campaign for the tabletop game of your choice, submitting the overall story goal with the structure and outline of one session (whether it is a single playthrough or a multiple session campaign). This assignment will be graded on completeness, creativity, and engagement with material. Assignments should be submitted through Google Classroom, and if it is submitted as a document, either through google docs or in PDF form.

Conservatory Retake Policy: When necessary, a student will have two weeks to retake or redo an assignment. After that, the initial grade will stand.
Late/Missing Work Policy: Late/Missing summative assignments or summative assessments must be submitted by 11:59 PM on the last day of the six-week grading period. After that, no late summative work will be accepted or graded. Additionally, if a student misses an in-class summative assessment, they should communicate with their instructor within two days to make arrangements. Due dates are 9/23, 11/4, and 12/22.

- Learn how to Narrate and alter storytelling to adapt to the progression of a campaign
- Work on imagining and designing a campaign within the parameters of the game
